Julia & Jordan’s Intimate La Venta Inn Wedding

bride and groom take their portraits for their wedding at La Venta Inn

OMG, I seriously can’t with Julia and Jordan’s wedding—it was all kinds of cute and beyond perfect! These two put together the most heartfelt La Venta Inn wedding in Palos Verdes, and let me tell you, if you’re dreaming of an intimate, cozy wedding with all the feels, you need to know about this venue!

Why La Venta Inn is Perfect for an Intimate, Elevated Wedding

La Venta Inn was the perfect backdrop for Julia and Jordan’s love story. This place has this laid-back elegance that’s SO timeless! With its Spanish Revival architecture, the soft stucco walls, and those stunning red-tile rooftops, La Venta feels like stepping back into classic California history. Seriously, you hardly need any extra decor—it’s just that naturally beautiful. And the best part? The ocean view will leave you speechless! (Trust me, it’s just magical for photos.) Make sure to check out their website for details on La Venta Inn’s pricing for a wedding here!

  • Historic Vibes: La Venta Inn is no ordinary wedding venue; it’s been around since the 1920s! So, not only is it stunning, but it has a history that adds depth to every photo and every moment. It’s got that California-meets-Mediterranean charm with Spanish Revival vibes—imagine saying “I do” surrounded by that dreamy architecture. And every shot we took? Absolute magic.
  • Romantic Gardens & Ocean Views: You guys, the outdoor ceremony spot at La Venta will take your breath away! Julia and Jordan had their ceremony right on the lawn, with these lush gardens framing them and the Pacific sparkling in the background. Imagine all your people, feeling the sea breeze, with this beautiful ocean backdrop. There’s this calmness to the place that just makes everything feel personal and connected. And the gardens? Perfect for all those little moments—like sharing a private laugh or a sweet kiss while soaking in the view.
  • Indoor-Outdoor Flow: One thing I love about La Venta is how it seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor spaces. You can have your ceremony outside with those views, then move inside for a cozy reception in their elegant ballroom. AND the ballroom has big windows that let in tons of natural light (A photographer’s DREAM) and even more ocean views, making it the perfect mix of elegant and inviting.
  • Perfect for Intimate Gatherings: La Venta really shines with smaller weddings, just like Julia and Jordan’s. There’s this warmth and intimacy in every corner of the venue that makes guests feel right at home. The layout is ideal for mingling, connecting with everyone, and sharing special moments without feeling spread out or distant.

Julia & Jordan’s Intimate La Venta Inn Wedding

The day started with everyone getting ready, filled with those pre-wedding jitters and excitement in the air. Then, Julia and Jordan shared a sweet first look, where all the nerves seemed to melt away, leaving just pure joy. Julia and Jordan, like so many couples I work with, were a little camera-shy. Julia told me she spent way too much time worrying about poses. But on the big day, she just let go, relaxed, and oh my goodness—it was unbelievable! We took a few quiet moments together for bridal portraits, and the backdrop of La Venta made every shot look straight out of a fairytale.

Soon after, guests gathered for the ceremony, and it was one of those beautifully intimate moments that felt truly special. She and Jordan shared their vows in front of their close family and friends, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house (including mine). Julia’s reactions during the ceremony were priceless like you could feel every word from her heart. It was one of those intimate moments where you could tell everyone felt the love in the room. After they exchanged vows, we gathered family and bridal party for photos, each person radiating happiness and laughter.

Then it was off to the La Venta Inn reception space,  the whole space was decorated with gorgeous blooms, from the centerpieces to the head table, creating a romantic and elegant atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. It was the perfect setting to celebrate their La Venta Inn wedding.

Tips for Choosing a Wedding Venue That Feels Just Right

Choosing a wedding venue can feel like a big decision—after all, it sets the whole vibe for your day. The right venue isn’t just about looks; it’s about finding a space that feels like you. Here are a few tips to help you pick the perfect spot that’ll make your wedding feel special, and meaningful.

Know Your Wedding Style & Vibe

Start by defining the vibe you want for your big day. Are you dreaming of something intimate and cozy, or grand and elegant? A venue like La Venta Inn, with its Spanish-style charm and ocean views, might be ideal if you’re going for romantic and elevated. Meanwhile, if you’re all about rustic, boho vibes, a barn venue with lots of greenery might be your go-to. Having a clear style in mind will help you narrow down your options quickly!

Consider the Size and Layout

Think about your guest count and whether the venue can comfortably accommodate everyone. If you’re planning a smaller wedding with an intimate feel, you don’t want a massive ballroom that could make your celebration feel a bit impersonal. Smaller, cozy spaces often lend themselves to a warmer, more connected vibe, letting guests feel closer to the action. Make sure to consider how the layout flows between ceremony and reception areas, too.

Pay Attention to the Lighting

Lighting is everything when it comes to setting the mood. Natural light can be stunning in photos, so look for venues with big windows or outdoor spaces for daytime ceremonies. If you’re planning an evening event, check out the lighting setup. Will you need extra string lights or candles to add a warm glow? A well-lit venue can make a world of difference, especially when it’s time to capture all those candid moments.

Think About the Location and Accessibility

Your venue should be easy to get to, especially if you have guests coming from far and wide. Consider how accessible it is from major airports or hotels, and think about the time of year. An oceanfront venue might be stunning in the summer, but maybe a little chilly in winter! Also, ask about transportation options, parking, or nearby accommodations if you’re hosting a destination wedding.

Ask About Decor & Customization Options

Some venues come with lots of built-in charm (like La Venta’s gardens and Spanish-style architecture), while others are more of a blank canvas. Think about how much decorating you’re willing to take on. If you want to go big with decor, a simpler venue might be ideal. But if you’d rather not add much, go for a venue that already has tons of character. Be sure to ask if they allow outside decor, and rentals, or if they have certain restrictions to keep in mind.

Trust Your Gut Feeling

Finally, trust that little voice in your head (or heart!). Sometimes you walk into a place, and it just feels right. You can imagine yourself saying your vows there, laughing with friends, and making memories. If a venue gives you that warm, excited feeling, it’s a good sign that it could be “the one” for your big day.

Your wedding venue should feel like a place that reflects who you are as a couple. From the location to the lighting, each detail can create an atmosphere that feels authentic to your love story. So take your time, explore your options, and enjoy the process—because when you find the right venue, everything else just falls into place!
